Welcome to my Reels of Thought.
Several reasons why I started on this new blog -
1) I was introduced to a huge selection of fantastic blog skins by Dopey, and as much as I would love to use some of them for my original blog, I like it the way it is. The colour scheme of the old blog somehow brings out the original idea of Grey Thoughts, Blue Memories. The solution? A new blog.
2) At this point in time, I took a look back at my original blog, at the very first post I've ever made - lyrics from Sarah McLachlan's "Angel". It was truly a depressing period of time, and the circumstances leading up to that was documented on long-neglected blog entry that's still floating somewhere in cyberspace. It was purely anonymous, and received a lot of heartening responses from strangers who chanced by it at that time. Don't waste your time looking for it - if you find it, good for you; I have no intention of removing it either. Such scars are meant to be written down, forgotten and left that way. Back to the topic, my oringal blog has digressed a whole lot from my original intent. Perhaps (and most probably), it reflects a huge change in my social life, outlook and mental state, thanks to a couple of very dear old friends and a group of deeply-cherished newfound friends - you know who you are! I've decided to leave that blog the way it is right now, ie. an almost-daily record of noteworthy happenings. Deeper thoughts have since fled from my life. Years ago I'd don my cycling clothes, sling on a bag of school notes and drinks and take a 15-minute cycle to the West Coast pier, all the while listening to a cip-on FM radio. (It was 98.0 and 98.7, but recently it's 95.0, sigh .. ) Spend the time there from 9pm all the way past midnight, each and every single day. Watching ships, stars, waves, and chewing on little bits of memories and daily observations. It was oddly refreshing. In retrospect, it actually did very little to help with the daily struggles of student life, and may have in fact perpetuated the shadow-cast side of my being. Due to certain preoccupations that arose in the subsequent years, and the fact that the West Coast pier had lights installed (I love the dark, even now), these periods of time-off and "me time" are but distant memories. This blog was started as an attempt to re-instate whatever I can of days long gone; and, hoping against hope, a venue for mental recess, mundane detachment, and most of all, healing.
